06 Oct Patient v. Davidson County Hospitalist and Nurse Practitioner
Eric Miles and Briggs Dixson obtained a dismissal at trial on behalf of a hospitalist, a nurse practitioner, and their practice group in Davidson County, Tennessee on October 1, 2025. The Plaintiff, who was seeking a multimillion-dollar award for the alleged wrongful death of his wife, voluntarily dismissed his case on the third day of trial following opening statements, examination of the Plaintiff’s expert outside the jury’s presence, and a motion challenging the admissibility of that expert’s causation opinions. The defense focused on the excellent care provided by the hospitalist team, and the fact that nothing they could have done would have altered the outcome. The case was dropped while the Judge was considering whether to exclude Plaintiff’s expert medical proof.
