Matthew is an associate at North, Pursell & Ramos, PLC. He focuses on civil litigation matters, including the defense of health care providers in medical malpractice claims and licensure actions. Matthew was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and grew up in Metro Detroit. At the age of seventeen, Matthew moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University. While at Belmont University, Matthew studied commercial saxophone performance and performed around Nashville extensively.

After graduating from Belmont University with a Bachelor's of Music in commercial music performance, he attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he earned his Masters of Arts in ethnomusicology. While at IU, Matthew was awarded the Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS) and Mellon Foundation Western European Endowment Professional Development Grant to study Norwegian and conduct research on Norwegian public policy in Oslo.

Matthew graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2014. While at Vanderbilt University Law School, Matthew was involved with the Mock Trial Executive Board, Transfer Student Association, and Health Law and Public Policy Forum. Matthew began working at North, Pursell & Ramos, PLC as a law clerk after his first year of law school and continued working at North, Pursell & Ramos, PLC as an associate attorney after graduating from law school.

Matthew is active in professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and has been a member of Harry Phillips American Inn of Court. Matthew has enjoyed volunteering for W.O. Smith Music School. Matthew plays softball and runs half marathons and marathons. He enjoys travel, playing music, going to music shows, cooking, collecting vinyl records, and attending sporting events.
